commanding the day

Every day begins with a simple act of obedience that sets the trajectory. We don’t wait for the day to happen to us; we meet it head-on!

  • Spirit: We start with devotion, aligning our mind and spirit to His purpose before the demands begin. (This is the unshakable foundation.)

  • Body: Next, we honour the temple with movement and exercise. We believe that your health—including weight management, mental capacity, and navigating challenges like perimenopause—is an essential part of your devotion. Your capacity must be holistic.

  • Mind: We intentionally prioritize mental health and personal growth, creating space for intimacy and connection that feeds the soul.

savor the flavor + se-lah

Life should taste good! Our kitchen is where Holistic Pragmatism truly comes alive. We love the adventure of transforming budget-friendly ingredients into creative meals that taste as good (or better!) than the “fancy” versions—and always fuel our flow, not restrict it.

We also treat our garden as a mini-jungle adventure, proving that even as absolute beginners, you can successfully grow your own. We’re currently enjoying the fruits of our labor, including:

  • ginger, turmeric, tomatoes, peppadew

  • mint, pineapple sage, celery, chives, and parsely

  • lots of beautiful flowers!

This is Simple Stewardship in action: knowing what goes into our bodies and being creative with what God provides.

We’re a pair of food adventurers—and one quality-control kitten named Crunchy—exploring the space where traditional flavors meet off-the-wall inspiration.

We don’t do boring, but we do keep it clean. You’ll rarely find more than one “unhealthy” ingredient in our food because we believe in fueling our temples as flawlessly as the budget allows. It’s Nutri-Value cooking: high-level nutrition, fabulous taste, and zero ego.

When the mood strikes, we share the love! We offer one meal a week on order for local pickup in Uvongo.

  • The Menu: Eclectic, fresh, and made with extra love.

  • How to Order: Follow our Facebook page to see this week’s inspiration and pop us a message.

Stop just saving the reels—start eating the food.

nature. exploration. adventure.

We are blessed to live where the deep se-lah is unavoidable. Stepping out our door means stepping straight into a lush forest, with the beach right here, too! We dedicate time to finding the divine pause in nature.

You can find us frequently playing local tourist as we enjoy exploring our surrounds:

  • Hiking through the forests around our neighborhood.

  • Fishing and Birdwatching along the Mpenjati River and River Valley Nature Reserve.

  • Antiquing and Freeganing (treasure hunting!)—always looking for quirky, fun items.

This time spent in God’s creation is essential for mental clarity and physical restoration.

being the blessed Beans

We found each other late in life, and every minute together is precious. This is the single most important reason we built our lives and business on the se-lah principle: to ensure we have the time and capacity to simply be best friends.

We prioritize laughter, love, and creating a safe harbor for:

  • Marriage: The most important relationship after God.

  • Family: Our grown-up children and our sweet grandchild (so far!).

This legacy of intentional living is our most important creation.
