When God instructed us to change the name of ContentCafé to se-lah, everything fell into place. It was a confirmation of the process thus far and it provided clear direction on where we’re headed. We’re happy to share this incredible vision with you.
Selah /səˈlä/
(Hebrew: סֶלָה) interj. (Found primarily in the Psalms and Habakkuk.) Halt + Reflect: A technical musical or liturgical term used to instruct the reader or singer to pause, halt, or lift up their voice, mind, or instrument. Capacity + Restoration: (Modern usage) The conscious, essential action of resting the mind, restoring the body, and reflecting the soul's direction to unlock true human capacity and overflow.
Sela (or Sela'/Selah') /sēlə/
(Hebrew: סֶלַע) n. (A distinct word from the interjection Selah.) Rock: A solid, immovable rock, crag, or fortress. Used figuratively in scripture to refer to God as a strong refuge or unshakeable foundation. se-lah is built on the Strong Tower.
Selah (in Greek)
(Greek: διάψαλμα / diapsalma) n. Interlude/Division: The word found in the Septuagint corresponding to the Hebrew Selah. It means an interlude, division, or change of song, further cementing the concept of a purposeful pause for restoration.
